Collection Booker Collection
Object Type Booklet
Summary History of the schools established by Benjamin Syms (1642/3) and Thomas Eaton (1659), as well as their successors, especially the Hampton Academy. The booklet also contains a conjectural image and a floorplan of the latter school building. The booklet also describes the feud between Christopher J.D. Pryor and George Cooper over the principalship and location of a consolidated school, ending in Cooper's murder of a Pryor supporter, Thomas Allen. The information for the booklet and two images was reportedly collected by William T. Westwood and from the citizens of Hampton by the booklet author.
