Title Pray Without Ceasing
Collection General Collection
Object Type Book
Summary Bound volume with gold lettering on cover, "Pray Without Ceasing." Title page describes contents: "Pray Without Ceasing. An adaptation from Joaquin Miller's poem, 'The Port of Ships.' by 'The Little Sergeant." The volume includes a reprinted copy of Miller's poem "The Port of Ships," followed by an adaptation of the poem replacing nautical-themed material with spiritual/religious themes. Hinged and bound into the volume are two cabinet cards, both with Cheyne's Studio logo in lower margin; first image is of unidentified man, possibly Union veteran (wearing Union Veteran Legion pin on collar?), and second image is reproduction of letter from Abraham Lincoln (to Edwin M. Stanton, not pictured in the image), Feb. 27, 1862, recommending unidentified "little sergeant" for "a situation - a clerkship, perhaps." The second half of the volume contains blank pages.
