2011.22.1160 - Columbia Avenue plats

Two plats by J. B. Sinclair, Jr. of properties on Columbia Avenue near the intersection with Jackson Street (present-day Kecoughtan Road). One plat is dated June 8, 1934 and depicts the property of Parker L. Brittingham; the other is dated June 22, 1934 and depicts the property of Daniel R. Cumming. Both plats include a dwelling.

June 8, 1964 plat by W. B. Sours of two parcels located north of Todds Lane. Although the plat is idendified as east of Todds Lane's intersection with Whealton Road and west of its connection to West Mercury Boulevard, it is likely west of Whealton Road as well; the plat is marked "Ridge Crest" subdivision and likely encompasses present-day Ridgecrest Drive. "Mohler's plat" is written on Parcel-1 in red.

Plats, surveys, and notes by various surveyors of the site of present-day Bethel High School and George P. Phenix School located on Big Bethel Road, and the adjacent land encompassing present-day Radford Drive. The plats, surveys, and notes portray the progression of the area from being the Miles King tract and John Allen tract, to Lewelling (Lewellyn) family land and Hayes family land, to property of the School Board of the City of Hampton; they span from late 18th- and early 19th-century up to 1981.

Multiple plats, a sketch, and a sheet of notes regarding properties on F. M. Barne's [sic.] Estate located near present-day N. 5th Street and Long Creek. Dated 1901-1964. -"Plat of F. M. Barne's Estate Benthall Tract." Includes 5th Street, Rodgers Avenue, and Long Creek. Note on plat reads "Note- This land was divided by J. Coutting, W. T. Holston, Eugene Elliott, & G. T. Elliott Committee (See D-B 44 Page 33) into 9 equal parts, each part to contain 139/1250 of the whole as there was 9 heirs, Annie Barnes having died. I was instructed to divide her share into 9 equal parts and give one part to the heirs of Sallie Giddings and one part to the heirs of Laura Copeland. I made this survey on
