Harrison Phoebus Quarter Master Sergeant 11th Md Vols. If I should fall in Battle or die in Hospital or elsewhere, For the sake of Humanity acquaint my wife of the fact & where my remains can be found address Mrs. Anne J. Phoebus No 244 Penn Avenue Balt'e Md." Note in pencil on rear fly leaf: "Arrived 4 am No 3-7 Phil to Wash P B & B." Inscribed in ink on rear endpaper: "Sally R. Phoebus Camp Bradford June 29th 1863."
