Draft depositions listing slaves "eloped" to British ships during the War of 1812. Deposition likely given by Charles M. Collier (as compared with depositions in the collections of the National Archives).
From "John Skinner living on Salters creek 6 July 1813 [to] the British Ships of War Laying on in James River and Hampton Roads":
-Bill, man aged 20 years, valued at $400
-Antony, boy aged 14 years, valued at $350
-Nan, woman aged 18 years and with 7-month-old child, valued at $370
-Rachel, woman aged 16 years old, valued at $300.
From "Thomas Holland Living on Salters creek [to] the British Ships of War laying in Jas River 6th July 1813":
-Gilbert, man aged 19 years, valued at $400
From "James Powell living at Newport News Point on the 6th of July 1813 the British ships of war then in James River & Hampton Rhods":
-Bable, man aged 35 years, valued at $400
-Lige, man aged 22 years, valued at $400
-Jane Zeak, woman, valued at $390
-2 "girles Charlot & Lilley 5 years & 6mo 4y" valued at $400
-Ebby, woman aged 20 years and Ned, boy aged 2 years, valued at $395
From "Nathaniel Parrish Living on Salters creek [to] the British Ships of War Laying on James River the 6th of July 1813":
-Davy, man aged 18 years old, valued at $400
-Boat brothers 16 tons 2 years old all Equiped Sails Excepted", valued at $700
-"all so a 18 feet [yard?]" valued at $40
