|Description/Scope & Content||Materials, collected by John Mitchell, that belonged to Lt. Ambrose V. Clinton, Supply Officer for the airship Roma. Clinton was killed when the Roma crashed at Norfolk's U.S. Army Supply Depot (present-day Norfolk International Terminal) on February 21, 1922. The collection includes photographs of Clinton; uniform accoutrements; official Army publications; and letters regarding the materials from Ann Clinton Staley, Clinton's daughter, to John Mitchell, curator of the Syms-Eaton Museum.|
|Admin/Biographical History||John Mitchell was curator of the Syms-Eaton Museum in the 1970s. The Roma was one of his primary research interests. Materials were pursued and acquired by John Mitchell for research purposes, likely in advance of publication of "The Army Airship Roma" by the Syms-Eaton Museum in 1973.|
