Description/Scope & Content Letter, Feb. 13 1863 Newport News Va., from Hank [Lamoreaux, 102nd Reg. NYV Co. I] to George. Hank writes about activities at Fort Monroe, including delivery of provisions, scarcity of food, and raiding pigpens and outbuildings of local farms for food. Letter is written in pencil and fills a full-size sheet and an additional partial sheet of paper. The full-size sheet includes patriotic letterhead, showing patriotic symbols (eagle, flags, etc.) and the slogan "The Star Spangled Banner Must Be Upheld."
